Welcome
i threw this site together at 3am. don’t have a smug fit if it’s ugly, hard to read, or even impenetrable. i already know. shh...

My name is Jaime Hosticka. I own an iPhone. And recently I had some troubles with my iPhone. I, like anybody with extra anxiety that needs misplacing, latched on to those problems with deep need. This, friends, is destructive behaviour. I don’t recommend it. Yet, I’ll suspect that many of you are landing at my little page here because of that shared inclination.
Recently Chris Foresman from ars technica and I had an IM conversation about some of my experiences around a nasty bug in Apple’s iPhone/iTunes operation. I had been compelled to follow the story since the minute the bug appeared because, well.. I hate the bug. I really hate it. The bug kept me from using my apps. I needed to know Morse code. Immediately. You can’t take that from me.
So in a thread that I started, several other users and I slowly wove what we believe to be a work-around, to get us, and hopefully others, by until Apple fixes the bug. Foresman wrote about our technique, and good mercy! I didn’t expect what came next. The deluge of email has been whelming. It’s been mostly really wonderful people with great tips, discussion, and/or questions. But the strange and pointed handful of emails that are either desperate pleas for help or deeply emotional rejections that my tinkering is any good... well, that’s just all weird.
Foresman did an awesome job letting his readers know that there may be temporary relief until Apple makes a real fix. To go with that, I’d like to offer a more complete picture, full of caveats and other things that make me feel safe.
